The underlying force of my paintings is my desire to describe feelings in Nature.
Encounters with open landscapes, wide spaces, high mountains and deep valleys, hillsides sloping down to the sea, sharp light, blurred radiance, green-clad hills and stony plains – here is the source of my inspiration.
Landscapes devoid of human presence inspire moods in the onlooker who is willing to follow his or her own thoughts – thoughts that can wander through paintings full of hiding places for the imagination.
The challenge for me of creating new works lies in expressing calmness while making my motifs exciting and stimulating for the imagination, tempting it with new horizons.
While inspiration may seem to spring from a rough and ravaged landscape, I strive to depict the calm that permeates even the wildest wilderness – for those who will surrender fully and let the experience of being there absorb them.
My pictures express memories of moods. I never paint “on location”.
